Overview
Works closely with families to assess needs and provide services as appropriate. Refer TteS children, youth and families to services, and assist them with access to those services. Provide information to TteS client youth and families regarding child development, parenting skills, effects of drugs and alcohol, suicide prevention, employment, education, culture and community. Work jointly with SCFS regarding children in need of protection. Share information and make recommendations with MCFD social workers. Identify and facilitate arrangements for children during child protection emergencies. Provide information about court proceedings and career plans. Participate in child abuse investigations and contract reporting. Develop understanding of each client family’s case history and build rapport. Work with Child & Family Service agencies to ensure cultural and community needs are represented. Maintain ethics and confidentiality. Keep Community Services Manager informed of investigations, emergencies, and client progress. Seek authorization for documentation. Develop and maintain detailed, confidential client files. Perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures. Liaise with external agencies and committees. Attend meetings and conferences. Complete documents for outside agencies. Work with other agencies for care and communication. Assist with departmental social functions
