Overview
Provide holistic nursing care to oncology patients during their cancer care experience. Perform patient assessment, review patient/family history, and develop and implement individualized nursing care plans. Deliver treatment as per prescribed protocols. Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and modify treatment/care plans as care progresses. Administer medications, injections, blood products, and IV fluids as required by the care plan. Monitor patient reactions to treatment and changes in physical or mental status; consult physician when appropriate using independent judgment. Maintain patient records including nursing assessments, symptom/side effect management, education, and care evaluations. Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives. Assist patients in interpreting their care plan and refer to other health care professionals/programs as required. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies/standards
