Overview
Operate, service, and complete preventative maintenance of facility equipment and systems within Regional District operated recreation facilities. Ensure safe operation and maintenance of regulated arena and pool equipment. Conduct preventive maintenance according to established guidelines, procedures, and schedules. Resolve day-to-day system maintenance and operation issues related to recreation facility functions. Perform maintenance and routine repairs on facility equipment (boilers, refrigeration, filtration, fire sprinklers, air conditioning, and related equipment). Perform machinery repair, carpentry, pipefitting, and construction work. Provide work guidance and assistance to facilities staff and contractors and support coordination of tasks as requested by the Facility Services Coordinator. Perform chief engineer duties when required. Prepare inspection and work reports and maintain records on maintenance and condition of facilities and assets (tools, vehicles, equipment). Assist with training and onboarding new staff when required. Ensure compliance with SCRD policies, bylaws, Workers' Compensation Act, and OHS regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable Workers' Compensation Act and OHS Regulations and promote safe work practices. Perform typical facility operations including plumbing/carpentry/painting/electrical tasks, inspections and work orders, emergency repairs, facility opening/closing/monitoring, and emergency evacuations. Maintain WHMIS program for the facility (update SDS, order supplies, ensure compliance). Operate refrigeration/ice equipment and perform pool operations including chemical testing, filter backwashes, water balancing, and equipment repairs. Repair and maintain program equipment including fitness equipment to manufacturer and safety standards
