In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority,patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Supervisor or designate, the Laboratory Combined Technologist receives and completes requisitions, forms and reports; monitors patients; performs general imaging procedures, as qualified, including archiving acquired images; carries out routine Laboratory and ECG testing, as qualified; utilizes computerized patient data systems; and prepares and monitors supplies and equipment.
Graduation from a recognized combined Laboratory/Medical Radiography Technician Program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
One year of recent related experience.
Ability to meet deadlines and manage emergent situations.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate workload.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Ability to operate related equipment and computerized systems.
Ability to keyboard at 30 words per minute.
Ability to physically and emotionally perform the duties of the position.
Availability for rotating on-call work and callback response
