Associate Veterinarian - Practice Beyond the Ordinary at Baxter Animal Hospital · CA$105,000 - CA$120,000/yr

About the role

Provide high-quality veterinary medical and surgical care to patients while participating in a collaborative city-wide on-call rotation. Work effectively within a team to support colleagues and ensure excellent service for pets and their families.

Across Canada, VetStrategy is a network of veterinary practices united by a shared purpose: healthy animals, happy owners.

We bring this to life through three promises: Our People Promise – To be a great place to work.

Our Customer Promise – To deliver world-class veterinary care, locally.

Our Sustainability Promise – To be a force for good.

Guided by our values—We Care, We Dare, We Share—we prioritize well-being, embrace challenges, and foster collaboration.

Rooted in passion and compassion, we support our people, patients, their families, and our communities.

Humble and approachable, we achieve more together.

Are you looking for a practice where you'll be supported by an experienced team, challenged by interesting medical and surgical cases, and welcomed into a clinic that genuinely enjoys working together?

Our commitment to you: At Baxter Animal Hospital, we're more than colleagues.

We're a close-knit team that believes great medicine happens when people support one another both professionally and personally.

With decades of combined experience, a collaborative culture, and access to diverse and rewarding cases, you'll have the opportunity to grow your skills while making a meaningful impact on pets and their families throughout Northern Ontario.

Whether you're an experienced veterinarian seeking greater case variety or a newer DVM looking for strong mentorship, you'll find the support, guidance, and camaraderie you need to thrive.

What's in it for You?

Work alongside a highly respected veterinarian with more than 35 years of experience and a passion for mentoring Enjoy a 4-day work week designed to support work-life balance Gain exposure to a diverse caseload, including emergency and urgent care cases through a collaborative city-wide on-call rotation Join a team that values connection, regularly organizing social events, dinners, outings, and celebrations together As part of our network, you will receive competitive compensation, bonus potential, generous CE allowance, VIN membership, licensing dues paid, paid vacation, generous personal pet policy, great health benefits and access to our extensive network of veterinary professionals!

We Are Unique: Baxter Animal Hospital has proudly served the Sudbury community for decades and has built a reputation for combining high-quality medicine with genuine compassion.

Our experienced support team includes long-tenured professionals who have spent decades with the practice, working alongside newer team members who bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm.

The result is a welcoming environment where everyone is eager to help one another succeed.

Our hospital is equipped with: State-of-the-art ultrasound technology Digital dental radiography A dedicated dental suite Comprehensive diagnostic capabilities Access to a collaborative network of local veterinarians through the Sudbury on-call association As one of the largest centres in Northern Ontario, Sudbury offers the perfect balance of urban amenities and outdoor adventure.

From beautiful lakes and hiking trails to excellent restaurants, festivals, arts, and culture, you'll enjoy an outstanding lifestyle with a significantly lower cost of living and shorter commute times than many major Canadian cities.

Medicine That Makes a Difference One aspect that makes practicing at Baxter truly unique is the opportunity to participate in a shared local on-call rotation.

With the nearest referral centre approximately five hours away, veterinarians in the region have the chance to practice a broader scope of medicine and surgery than many urban general practices.

Supported by experienced colleagues and a collaborative network of area clinics, you'll develop valuable skills managing urgent and emergency cases while making a real difference for pets and families who rely on local veterinary care.
