Job Description

The Valley Regional Hospital is seeking a child and adolescent psychiatrist to work a 0.4 full time equivalency (FTE) basis in the community outpatient services. The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative community outpatient team. The psychiatry service supports rural satellite clinics for mental health and addictions, seniors mental health, community outreach teams, clozapine, and depot clinics, consult services for adults with neurodevelopmental disorders, consultation with medical units and emergency departments and full Child and Adolescent Clinical Services. This is a cohesive team with members from diverse backgrounds dedicated to providing quality care. Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in 1992 and serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties. It provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia. Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents. Learn more about Valley Regional Hospital

Responsibilities

provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities participate in program development provide direct clinical outpatient care provide emergency medicine services in conjunction with our crisis team offer consultations to other physicians and rural clinics contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned Responsible to the Zone Psychiatry Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice Expected Hours Part-Time - 0.4 FTE Remuneration $236 per hour Hourly Arrangement as per the Physician Agreement - Doctors Nova Scotia Incentives Eligible physicians may qualify for recruitment incentives, relocation support and site visit reimbursement through Nova Scotia Health and the Province of Nova Scotia. Requirements

Applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and hold certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Proof of coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is also required.
