Education

  • Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope
  • Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of recognized Medication Administration Course
  • Peri anesthesia course essential
  • Perioperative course an asset
  • Current
  • BCLS
  • Experience:
  • Two years Endoscopy experience in an acute care setting essential
  • Two years’ Operating Room experience an asset
  • Two years Surgical day Care experience an asset
  • Sound knowledge of nursing process and responsibilities of profession
  • Experience with instrument processing asset
  • Surgical nursing experience an asset
  • Functions independently within scope of practice
  • Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals and work history
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties of position description, which includes the ability to lift and move patients, wear lead aprons, pushing, pulling, bending and stooping
  • Competencies:
  • Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written), conflict resolution and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer literacy in current software applications

Requirements

Registered Practical Nursing Diploma or equivalent education to practice at full scope.

Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Completion of a recognized Medication Administration Course.

Peri-anesthesia course required.

Current BCLS certification.

Two years of endoscopy experience in an acute care setting required.

Operating room, surgical day care, instrument processing, or surgical nursing experience is an asset.

Strong problem-solving, communication, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.

Excellent organizational skills and computer literacy.

Ability to perform all essential physical duties of the position
