About the role

The Sonographer is responsible for performing a variety of standardized and complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures while ensuring equipment functionality and safety. They also provide patient instruction, maintain infection control standards, and assist radiologists and clinical staff.

Insight is currently seeking a Sonographer to join our dynamic and expanding team. This is a full time, permanent position based out of our Fort McMurray clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and performs a variety of standardized and/or complex procedures as set forth by the Radiologists.
  • Must have working knowledge of all US equipment and ensure all units are functioning correctly.
  • Responsible for maintaining safety and the general care and cleanliness of the Ultrasound area, with particular attention to infection control.
  • Instructs patients on examination requested.
  • Maintains quality control in performance of all procedures.
  • Assist Radiologist or fellow staff members.
  • Responsible for general patient care and safety.

  • Possess working knowledge of all ultrasound equipment and ensure all units are functioning correctly.
  • Handle difficult situations in a sensitive and proactive manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer skills

Qualifications

  • Graduate from accredited Sonography Program.
  • Current registration and active membership with insurance, in good standing with Sonography Canada.
  • Registration in good standing with ACMDTT.
  • Ongoing maintenance of continuing education credits in accordance with Sonography Canada/ARDMS/ACMDTT requirements.
  • CPR Standard First aid certificate is an asset

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Sonography Program and hold active registration with Sonography Canada and the ACMDTT. Proficiency in ultrasound equipment operation and excellent communication skills are required for this role.
