About the role

The psychotherapist will provide evidence-based clinical assessments and individual or group therapy for clients with anxiety and mood disorders. They will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage cases, conduct community outreach, and contribute to program development.

Job Description

The Outpatient Services at Ontario Shores is seeking a Mental Health Psychotherapist to provide mental health services through evidence based psychotherapies to individuals with Anxiety and Mood Disorders. As a key member of the team, you will provide clinical assessment and treatment, consultative and educational services to clients, families, community providers, referral sources and other community partners.

You will have demonstrated initiative and creative approaches to challenging situations and will be ready to work collaboratively within a specialized evidence-based service. You will have formal training in CBT and preferably IPT, with experience in working with clients who have complex issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You will work actively with our interdisciplinary teams to provide individual and group therapy, case management, community outreach, consultation, education services and discharge planning. Client service will be through traditional in person methodology well as in a virtual environment using Telemedicine.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducting Assessments to inform individualized treatment plans
  • Facilitate group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (and other modaltities like DBT / ACT)
  • Provide Individual Congnitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Develop and Facilitate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
  • Actively participate in team rounds and collaborate with team members in provision of care
  • Contribute to program development and program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, social work or related field require
  • A current registration with the College of registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
  • Current CPR - Health Care Provider (HCP) is required. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory college requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in CBT and IPT modalities.
  • 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is preferred
  • 3-5 years community-based mental health experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated competence in individual and group evidence based manualized therapies.
  • Training and/or experience in facilitating psychoeducational groups
  • Experience with presentations is an asset.
  • The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
  • The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
  • Variable hours and locations may be required due to patient demand.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and maintain current registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. A minimum of 3-5 years of psychiatric or community-based mental health experience is preferred, along with demonstrated knowledge of CBT and IPT modalities.
