The Support Worker provides specialized care, community integration, and behavioural support to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. Responsibilities include documenting client records, administering medication, and maintaining a safe, supportive environment in group homes.

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Deliver quality, specialized services in accordance with Supported Lifestyles' mission, philosophy, agency, and position standards.
  • Provide support to individuals through community integration, skill learning, and positive quality of life.
  • Provide assistance to individuals in service, including behavioural and emotional support, data collection, and implementation of behavioural support plans.
  • Participate in community and recreational pursuits with individuals in service.
  • Administer and document medication in accordance with organizational policies and individual care plans.
  • Participate in the general upkeep of the group home.
  • Provide de-escalation support and crisis management as needed.
  • Document and maintain accurate client records, case notes, and reports.
  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum 3 months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges.
  • Experience providing behavioural supports to clients.
  • Experience providing personal care (e.g., assisting with bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene).
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset (e.g., Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Access to a personal vehicle is an asset (we support individuals across all four quadrants of Calgary).
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $ 18.74 - 20.11 CAD per hour.

Schedule

We have several shifts available to suit all lifestyles! Shifts typically fall between 09:00–15:00, 15:00–21:00, 09:00–21:00 ( weekdays and weekends), and 21:00–09:00 (overnights). We offer a variety of full-time, part-time, and relief opportunities, with the option to pick up additional shifts. We support individuals in all quadrants of the city (NE, NW, SE, SW).

Requirements

Candidates must have at least 3 months of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges and experience providing behavioural support. Post-secondary education in a related field and First Aid/CPR certification are considered assets.
