Detailed Overview

This position supports the Physiotherapist and/or Occupational Therapist by assisting designated patients with assigned rehabilitative activities in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists assigned patients with established rehabilitation activities such as mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs, outpatient pool programs and activities of daily living as directed.
  • Demonstrates to patients the use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices such as braces, wheelchairs, walkers, and modified eating utensils and personal care items.
  • Instructs general ROM classes as directed.
  • Reports observations of patients'' behaviour and progress to Therapist/Nurse.
  • Communicates concerns and/or changes to patients' condition.

Requirements

Candidates must have completed a Rehabilitation Assistant program or possess an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The role requires strong communication skills and the physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for related activities as directed.
