Neurodevelopmental Services Job Stream: Clinical Union: MNU Anticipated Start Date - End Date: ASAP - 03/12/2027 Reason for Term: Maternity Leave FTE: 1.00 Anticipated Shift: Days Work Arrangement: In Person Daily Hours Worked: 7.75 Annual Base Hours: 2015 Salary: $42.985, $44.487, $45.992, $47.558, $49.095, $50.684, $51.697, $52.732 Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.) Position Overview Neurodevelopmental Services works in partnership with several community agencies to provide psychiatric assessments and consultation for children and adolescents with complex multi-diagnostic issues. This Nursing position works within an interdisciplinary team and provides range of interventions. The clients in the service will range in age from 5 – 17 years and have a primary presentation of Autism, Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, Anxiety, Intellectual disability and have a broad range of behavioral, emotional and mental health concerns that impact on their home, school and community environments. Services are delivered using a family centered approach in both a clinic and community-based setting.

Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, families and community partners to provide assessment, education, and interventions.

Provide treatment interventions for children, adolescents, and families.

Establish and maintain professional working relationships with the system supports affiliated with the neurodevelopmental community.

Provides consultation and education around medication and monitoring of side effects.

Supports and provides education to parents and caregivers.

Provides education to the community.

Requirements

Requires a degree in Psychiatric Nursing or Nursing and active registration with the CRPNM or CRNM. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Experience

Minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental Knowledge of child and adolescent development, and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence with an emphasis on Tourette’s, ADHD, ASD, Intellectual disability and Anxiety.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Graduate from an approved program in Psychiatric Nursing or Nursing. (B.Sc.P.N., B.Sc. M.H. or B.Sc.N. preferred).

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM). Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.

Qualifications: and Skills

Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.

Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health.

Must be familiar with current behavioural strategies and interventions.

Training and demonstrated skill in several clinical modalities.

Knowledge of ecological systems theory, culturally competent practice, community-based mental health service delivery and the bio-psychosocial approach to mental health are desirable.

Knowledge of various neurological disorders, e.g., autism, cognitive disabilities, genetic syndromes.

Must be familiar with psychotropic medications.

This maternity/parental term may expire sooner than the date indicated, subject to written notice of a minimum two (2) weeks, or one (1) pay period, whichever is longer.
