In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the supervisor, and under the general supervision of a radiologist, the MI Generalist Sonographer performs general ultrasound examinations. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, forms and reports; preparing and monitoring supplies and equipment; patient monitoring; and operating ultrasound equipment, including preparing and presenting patient data to radiologist.
Graduation from an approved Ultrasound Technologist Diploma program.
Sonography Canada and/or ARDMS certification credentials as a Generalist Sonographer.
One year of recent related experience in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Eligible for registration with Sonography Canada.
Ability to organize and coordinate workload.
Ability to establish priorities collaboratively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary health care team.
Ability to operate related equipment, including computerized systems.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
