The pharmacy technician will process medication orders, prepare parenteral and chemotherapy products, and distribute medications to patient care units. They are also responsible for maintaining inventory, managing regulatory documentation, and assisting with medication reconciliation.
Reviews and processes departmental order requests. Prepares medications for distribution to the patient care units. Distributes medications to the patient care units. Orders medications from various suppliers. Prepares parenteral products. Maintains the medication inventory, place orders in stock, check expiration dates, process returns as needed. Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel. Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist. Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation. Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging. Answers telephone directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers. Maintains cleanliness of the department Performs other work related duties as assigned. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician, and PTCB certification. At least one year of recent pharmacy technician experience is required, or completion of an inpatient pharmacy technician trainee program.
