The Physiotherapy Assistant implements lower-risk interventions and rehabilitative activities under the direction of a physiotherapist. They also provide functional guidance to patients and families while maintaining equipment and inventory.

Salary Details The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $32.84/Hr.

Within the context of a patient/client/resident and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Program Manager, practice supervision of the Physiotherapy Practice Coordinator, and the work direction of the designated physiotherapist in coordination with other interdisciplinary team members to carry out established rehabilitative activities within the physiotherapy (PT) scope of practice.

Responsibilities include receiving assignments and implementing lower risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of PT care plans, demonstrating and teaching activities, adapting devices to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for mobility and independence, providing functional direction to patients/clients/residents and family, and assisting/practicing daily living skills.

Reports relevant observations of patient/client/resident progress and behaviours, provides direction to volunteers, organizes and cleans equipment and supplies, and maintains established inventory of supplies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
