About the role

The Residential Support Staff provides mental health and crisis support to residents while monitoring the treatment centre during overnight shifts. They also facilitate daily activities, medication administration, and maintain accurate documentation of resident progress and incidents.

About the Role

and Stonehenge Therapeutic Community: Our Residential Support Staff provide support to clients attending our longer-term residential addiction treatment program in Guelph. Our approach to treatment is a group approach, based around peer support and mutual self-help. Our team contributes to our client's recovery journey by demonstrating positive and healthy behaviours (role modelling), engaging in supportive counselling, containment and crisis intervention, and participating alongside residents in community living activities (participating in mealtimes and outdoor recreation activities). This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a career in social work or counselling to work in and learn about a unique model of treatment. Hours of Work:

Overnights (10pm-8am) Shifts are scheduled on a rotational basis and include working every second weekend. Some work required on statutory holidays.

Role Responsibilities

Supervise residents in daily activities Provide mental health and crisis support Monitor the treatment centre during overnights, in the absence of full-time staff Interact with residents consistent with individual treatment needs and treatment plans Lead and participate in programs Administrative supports for residents Perform light housekeeping chores including laundry, clean staff offices, etc. Facilitate crisis intervention and supportive counseling/containment Conduct bed checks Provide peer mentorship and coaching to the team Conduct/inform staff briefing in between shifts Facilitate medication administration for residents and complete related documentation Maintain professional boundaries and relationships Make referrals to internal and/or external programs or services, as appropriate Attend all mandatory training programs and team meetings Complete required documentation such as the Communication Log, program notes and Incident Reports Liaise and support Therapeutic Community staff Prepare for and attend regularly scheduled clinical supervisions Support planned and unplanned resident discharges

Qualifications

College Diploma or University Degree relevant to mental health, addiction or Social Services Minimum six months of progressive experience in addictions or mental health; experience in concurrent disorders or trauma informed practice an asset Previous experience in residential treatment an asset Previous experience with justice-involved individuals an asset Food Handlers Certification is an asset Lived experience related to addictions and/or mental health an asset Valid G Driver’s License held for a minimum of 3 years (G2 or greater) and Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record Vulnerable Sector Check required pre-employment CSC Clearance conducted by PWGS Canada Standard First Aid/CPR Level C Reliable vehicle/own transportation – not on a bus route

Requirements

Candidates must hold a college diploma or university degree in a relevant field and possess at least six months of experience in mental health or addictions. A valid G driver's license and the ability to pass a vulnerable sector check are mandatory requirements for the role.
