In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reports to the Nurse Manager, or designate, the Registered Nurse - Perinatal plans and provides direct nursing care to obstetrical patients in the hospital in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies; national, provincial, regional and local obstetrical guidelines and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.
Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant; graduation from a recognized Perinatal Nursing specialty program; current CPR Basic Rescuer, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Fetal Health Surveillance, and Breastfeeding certificates; and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
