Job Description

As a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the CMHN is accountable for the provision of screening, assessment, referral, case management, and treatment of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. This includes persons who may be at risk of developing disability due to mental illness. The CMHN is accountable for the provision of education aimed at prevention and early intervention services to reduce incidence and disability due to mental illness.

  • Knowledge in psychiatric diagnoses, treatment, and medications
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Service's Act
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Social Services policies, procedures, and regulations

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent diploma and be registered or eligible for registration with the CRPNS or CRNS. A Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team are required.
