In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Manager or designate, the LPN Indigenous Liaison Nurse supports health care needs and wellness services for Indigenous clients within the scope of practice and professional standards established by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and consistent with Island Health policies and procedures. The LPN will facilitate connections between Indigenous clients and service providers to enhance access to Island Health services with a culturally safe approach. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, two years of recent relevant nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, knowledge of Indigenous health approaches and cultural issues, and a valid British Columbia driver's license.
