Sandstone Recovery Center is a community based inpatient recovery centre for eating disorder and mental health for youths and young adults ages 12 - 24 years old. The primary function of the support staff is to ensure that Sandstone Recovery Center operates in a manner that is consistent with the goals and objectives of the treatment program during those periods when the counselling and administrative staff are not available or on duty.
Duties: and Responsibilities:
1.
Monitors all patient activities when counselling staff are not on the premises and ensures that such activities are conducted according to the "Patient Responsibilities", and/or the general operational procedures of the facility.
2.
Conduct meal support groups with patients.
3.
Conducting art & creativity groups with patients.
4.
Conducts weekend support staff lead groups including self-discovery and clinical based groups under instruction from by clinical staff.
5.
Ensures patients and facility are secure after all scheduled daily activities have been completed in the evening.
6.
Makes themselves available to any patient experiencing difficulties and needing to talk to a staff member.
7.
Immediately notifies the appropriate on-call counselling staff, management staff or medical staff in the event of any emergency or unusual circumstance.
8.
Documents in the appropriate logbooks and Kipu system any significant occurrences and a general impression of activities during the shift.
9.
Participates in case consultation and treatment coordination with other members of multi-disciplinary team.
10.
Administers first aid in case of emergency while waiting for medical staff and/or emergency professionals to arrive.
11.
Housekeeping and clerical tasks as per checklist book.
12.
Answers telephone and handles all calls as instructed.
13.
Participates in in-service workshops as assigned.
14.
Performs other related duties as requested by the Executive Director or Senior staff.

Candidates must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent and training in mental health or addictions. A valid First Aid/CPR Level C certification and a clear criminal record check are mandatory.
