The Licensed Practical Nurse (OR Qualified) provides practical nursing services in an operating room environment as a member of an integrated surgical team performing varied and complex surgical interventions. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other members of the surgical team in facilitating safe and effective surgical interventions through the performance of circulating duties, and scrubbing in accordance with established standards and protocols. This includes pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. The LPN OR operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice with the Standards of Practice for LPNs as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and according to Employer's operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.
Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives..
Graduation from a recognized accredited operating room program for Licensed Practical Nurses..
Two years of recent related experience as an LPN in acute medical or surgical care, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience..
Current basic cardiac life support certification..
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing..
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams..
Physical ability to stand for long periods, push and pull equipment, and lift equipment up to 25 pounds.
