Medical Consult Liasion Nurse Clinician - Outpatient Adult Mental Health

The role of the Mental Health Consultation Liaison Nurse Clinician is a consultative one and is intended to collaborate with and support staff in non mental health areas of the hospital in their care and treatment of patients with behavioural and/or psychiatric/mental health concerns.

What you bring: Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the College of Nurses Professional Standards of Practice and Standards of Psychiatric/Mental Health Clinical Nursing Practice Three (3) to five (5) years’ recent experience in acute mental health Current experience in medicine and geriatric fields Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act Current BCLS certification Crisis Prevention Institute Certificate or equivalent Demonstrated ability to coordinate patient care, involving the client, family, other disciplines and collateral agencies.

Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric needs of medically ill patients Demonstrated skills of patient assessment with a delirium and dementia diagnosis Demonstrated risk assessment skills including suicide and self-harm risks Demonstrates a patient focused attitude toward care Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DSM V classification, psychopharmacology, and psychiatric/mental health legislation, and strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary health care team.
