About the role

The Hospitalist will provide inpatient care for up to six patients across various units, including medical, restorative care, and long-term care. They will also participate in teaching and mentorship for medical students and residents from Dalhousie University.

Company Description Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital (FMH) is a 55-bed acute care community hospital serving Lunenburg and the surrounding areas.

The hospital provides a comprehensive range of services, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, long-term care, and community-based care.

It features 30 inpatient beds, plus a 23-bed Veteran’s Unit, and is well-equipped with diagnostic and treatment services.

FMH fosters strong connections between primary care providers, specialists, and allied health professionals through its outpatient and specialty ambulatory clinics.

Additionally, it offers opportunities for teaching and mentorship as a preceptor for Dalhousie University medical students and residents.

Physicians at FMH provide care for up to six inpatients across various units, including restorative care rehab, alternate level of care, medical, and Veteran’s long-term care.

Job Description

Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital is seeking a Hospitalist to provide Locum coverage during a period of active recruitment. Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim Facility On Call fees under specific conditions.

Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
