About the role

The RN provides quality nursing care to psychiatric patients, including triage, risk assessment, and the facilitation of psycho-educational groups. They collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans while maintaining compliance with organizational and legal standards.

Job Summary

The RN participates as a member of the health care team in delivering quality health care to patients, which supports Kaiser Permanentes mission, vision and values. The RN provides a variety of nursing services in person and/or by phone utilizing the nursing process and leadership skills to address acute and chronic needs of Health Plan members and other patients of the Kaiser Permanente Health Care Program. They work under the general direction of the designated supervisor.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience Minimum two (2) years of RN experience within the last five (5) years OR successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente NW RN New Grad/transition to practice program Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience in psychiatric inpatient or community setting within the last five (5) years, working with Adult Mental Health patient population. Education Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required. License, Certification, Registration This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire. Registered

Experience in collaboratively working within interdisciplinary teams and dynamic work environment; including shared responsibilities for development of member plan of care, goal setting, and making decisions with members and families. Broad-based knowledge of Mental Health diagnoses and treatment, including psychotropic medications and associated lab monitoring. Knowledge of common medical conditions/diagnosis co-existing and potentially impacting the treatment and management of Mental Health conditions (i.e. chronic pain, diabetes, Parkinson’s, cardiac). Proficiency in the interview, assessment, and triage of the Mental Health Patients. Proficiency in risk assessment for self-harm, suicide, violence and mitigation strategies. Proficiency in de-escalation techniques and crises intervention.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with population care/case management, triage and advice. Current or future bachelors degree in nursing or related field. Minimum two (2) years of experience working with computerized information systems. Previous experience with dual diagnosis population. RN-BC (Board certified Registered nurse in Psychiatry) or Master’s degree in nursing. Familiarity with community resources Notes: Minimum of two shifts per pay period required to fill open shifts at Cascade Park and Mount Scott Procedural Psychiatry locations

Requirements

Candidates must have at least two years of RN experience and three years of psychiatric nursing experience, along with a degree from an accredited nursing school. Current licensure in Washington and Oregon is required, as well as Basic Life Support certification.
