Program Overview

Our Registered Dietitians provide respectful, patient-focused care. Registered Dietitians conduct initial assessments and provide comprehensive nutrition care, education, and support to referred patients of the Edmonton North PCN through individual and group programming.

Additionally, Registered Dietitians work with patients to determine their personal long-term goals and use a non-dieting approach to help make sustainable and realistic changes.

Position

Functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team, Registered Dietitians work with PCN physicians, other health professionals, and local and regional programs to ensure a high quality of evidence-based health care is delivered to the population we serve.

Report to

Manager, Clinical Services

Education

Bachelor of Science with a major in Food and Nutrition, with completion of an accredited internship program.

Active registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta. (Must be responsible to maintain and provide proof of active registration and practice)

Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of healthcare or related experience is required, one (1) year of primary care or community experience is preferred.

Practices with a weight-inclusive approach and has experience incorporating mindful eating and mindfulness practices into counselling.

Group facilitation experience with proven ability to adapt to the audience.

Experience working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience implementing behavior change techniques such as health change methodology and motivational interviewing.

Skills

Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner in addition to being able to identify the most appropriate method of communication.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, organize time, multi-task and set priorities to meet various deadlines and maintain a flexible schedule.

Strong follow-through and attention to detail.

Strong listening, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Is flexible, open-minded and adaptable to change.

Comfortable using technology, including outlook, teams and sharepoint as well as electronic medical records for patient documentation.
