In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Coordinator, Speech Pathology, prioritizes referrals, assesses, and develops and implements individual and group treatment programs to ensure optimum patient care for assigned caseload. Provides treatment to patients at multiple sites. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle; and Valid BC Driver's License.
Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
Current licensure as a Speech Language Practitioner with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC.
Advanced Competency Certification from CSHHPBC in at least two of: Voice Restoration (Voice Prostheses); Communication & Swallowing Assessment & Management for Tracheostomy; Videofluoroscopic Assessment of Swallowing Disorders in Adults.
Valid BC driver's license.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated planning and instructional skills.
Ability to organize individual and group treatment programs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other disciplines, hospital staff, patients and families, and external agencies.
