About the role

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, safe resident care while collaborating with the healthcare team to meet individual needs. They lead shift reports, document changes in resident conditions, and ensure physician orders are processed and implemented accurately.

The Opportunity The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible to the Director of Care collaborating on the delivery of resident care to meet individual needs within his/her level of competency. They will integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment, and interpersonal attributes required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services to residents.

The RN provides quality and safe resident care.

The RN promotes teamwork and a culture that supports AgeCare Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of Respect, Teamwork, Quality and encourages practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity.

The RN promotes health and safety awareness in the workplace.

Within the scope of this position, the RN takes on a key role to continually provide an environment promoting a culture of resident safety and freedom from harm and injury.

What You Will Do Coordinates nursing and other services for the residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence.

Leads shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in residents’ status.

Records significant changes in residents’ condition; ensures documentation in the residents’ chart adheres to AgeCare policies and procedures and Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice.

Reviews and processes physician orders as per procedure, ensuring orders are implemented as soon as possible.

Immediately communicates difficulties in processing physician orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care.

What You Will Bring A sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada) Health Promotion and Protection Act, Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department.

Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and maintain active registration with the provincial registry. A strong background in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing is required, along with knowledge of relevant provincial and federal health legislation.
