About the Role

As a VON nurse, you'll deliver holistic person-centred care to children, youth, adults, seniors, and support their families. You'll have the opportunity to work in clients' homes, in our clinics, virtually, and engage in community outreach. Our Visiting nurses provide client care in the client’s own home. They provide physical assessments, symptom control support, palliative care, rehabilitation therapy, wound care, education, counselling to individuals and families and much more.

Work to your full scope of practice Ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge Comprehensive orientation program to ensure your success Competitive salary and vacation time Defined Benefit Pension Plan with company contributions for eligible employees Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, LTD) for eligible employees and an Employee Assistance Program Smartphone to help you stay organized and connected throughout your day Travel compensation and mileage What you'll do: Client assessments to develop individual care plans Provide primary care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals Simple and advanced wound care, including complex and negative pressure wounds Chronic Disease Management, e.g. diabetes care and education IV therapy and CVAD management Phlebotomy and specimen collection Dialysis Management Rehabilitative programs Palliative and End of Life Care Medication management And many other critical nursing skills What we're looking for: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the province of practice Community health experience is an asset Fundamentals of Palliative Care, or an equivalent required CAPCE or equivalent required or agreement to complete upon hire Three (3) years of experience in the community or acute care setting, with a focus on palliative care is preferred Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required; a Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may also be necessary Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) VON Canada: Careers that fit your life. Working conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.

Requirements

Candidates must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the province of practice and possess at least three years of experience in community or acute care. A valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and proof of insurance are required, along with specific certifications in palliative care.
