About the role

The Registered Practical Nurse will deliver high-quality psychiatric nursing care to adults in an inpatient unit, including medication administration and therapeutic interventions. Job Description

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing care to adults in the inpatient Psychiatry unit. This role includes administering medications and providing therapeutic patient care to individuals experiencing acute symptoms associated with psychiatric disorders such as depression or psychosis. Essential skills include strong behavioral observation abilities, conducting thorough mental status and physical assessments, and monitoring patients’ responses to medication and other clinical interventions. The RPN will also be responsible for accurate and timely documentation, as well as maintaining ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team members and charge nurses to support coordinated, patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire CPI certification 1 year minimum acute adult mental health experience required Must possess a strong understanding of psychopharmacology Must possess a strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing, addiction issues and risk assessments Must possess good assessment and crisis intervention, communication, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to perform well in stressful situations and problem solve. Good team player Satisfactory employment and attendance record Must be physically able to do the job, which involves heavy lifting and intensive physical effort The ideal candidate is strong in patient centered care in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and should be ready to drive change and innovation. We require a person with good communication skills with a clear patient focus with the ability to manage execution and to foster teamwork and cooperation.

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Sunday; various rotating 12 hour shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs) Salary: $36.08 to $39.02 per hour
