The Registered Nurse will provide specialized nursing care in the Apheresis and Outpatient Department, including venipuncture, IV therapy, and management of central vascular access devices. The role involves coordinating patient care within an interdisciplinary team and participating in an on-call rotation for weekends and holidays.

Job Description

Qualifications

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Recent experience within the last 2 years in Ambulatory-Outpatient Clinic Services and activities related to outpatient care preferred
  • Working knowledge and recent experience within the last 2 years of Apheresis preferred
  • Previous experience in Critical Care and/or Hemodialysis preferred
  • Current BCLS/HCP certification required
  • Demonstrated knowledge sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred
  • Current demonstrated proficiency certification in Intravenous therapy venipuncture and central vascular access devices required
  • Current surgical nursing preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and leadership experience as evident by leading teams and coordinating patient care
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary care team
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize needs
  • Committed to customer-focused environment while ensuring excellence in practice
  • Demonstrates excellence in interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to teach and communicate effectively with patient and family
  • Commitment to continuous improvement within the program
  • Good attendance and work record essential
  • Ability to complete orientation as required
  • A resume outlining further special courses certifications current and on-going education should accompany the application
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge experience and current skill in venipuncture intravenous therapy procedure support and nursing care related to care provided in the Outpatient Department and Apheresis Clinic as assigned
  • on-call required approximately 1 in 4 weekends and rotating stat holidays.
