About the role

The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs routine, urgent, and stat specimen testing within a highly automated Core Laboratory environment. They are also responsible for maintaining quality control, participating in method evaluation, and contributing to safety and quality assurance projects.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) will be required to rotate between the Core Laboratories at the Hamilton General and Juravinski Hospital sites.

The MLT provides routine, urgent and stat specimen testing in a fully computerized and highly automated Core Laboratory setting.

The Medical Laboratory Technologist will perform a variety of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload.

In addition to specimen testing the MLT will perform additional tasks as required.

These include but are not limited to teaching, training, method evaluation, technical writing, quality assurance projects and safety projects.

Current Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) 2.

Successful completion of an accredited MLT program 3.

Current core laboratory experience, including Core Hematology, and Core Clinical Chemistry 4.

Recent experience in Morphology preferred 5.

Computer skills including EPIC, Cellavision, and Microsoft office applications 6.

Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills 7.

Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and improving individual competence, as well as contributing to the education and development of students and co-workers

Requirements

Candidates must hold current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) and have successfully completed an accredited MLT program. Experience in core laboratory settings, specifically Hematology and Clinical Chemistry, is required.
