About the role

The Registered Practical Nurse will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to provide therapeutic services for stroke clients. They are responsible for interpreting clinical data and acting with accountability to ensure high-quality patient care.

As a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Registered Practical Nurse will collaborate in the provision of therapeutic services for stroke clients.

1.

Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse 2.

Holds current certificates in Medication Administration, Enteral Nutrition Via Gastrostomy Tube, Urinary Bladder Catheterization, Transcription of Physicians Orders, Advanced Wound Care and Airway Management, or has completed equivalent community college studies 3.

Demonstrated knowledge and 2 recent years therapeutic experience within the last 5 years with clients who have had a stroke 4.

Demonstrated knowledge and 2 recent years therapeutic experience within the last 5 years in the field of neurological rehabilitation with the stroke population 5.

Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills 6.

Demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary care and the principles of professional practice 7.

Demonstrates judgement in carrying out his or her role or function and is responsible and accountable for acting on the interpretation of data 8.

Demonstrates critical thinking and decision making in assessment and problem identifications 9.

Demonstrates ongoing personal professional education and development

Requirements

Candidates must hold a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess specific clinical certifications. A minimum of two years of recent therapeutic experience in stroke care and neurological rehabilitation is required.
