About the role

The technologist will perform laboratory procedures, including the processing, interpretation, and reporting of Microbiology specimens. They are responsible for maintaining quality control and ensuring safety while prioritizing their daily workload.

Under general supervision and direction, the technologist will perform a variety of laboratory procedures accurately, efficiently and safely while maintaining quality control and prioritizing workload. Duties include; processing, interpretation and reporting results for Microbiology specimens as per established policies and procedures.

1.

Current Registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) 2.

Successful completion of an accredited MLT program 3.

Recent experience in Microbiology required; to include proficiency in reading Gram stained smears, recognition of colonial morphology, identification of pathogens and reporting of susceptibility testing results.

Demonstrated knowledge of bio-safety principles.

5.

Excellent communication, organizational and problem- solving skills

Requirements

Candidates must hold current registration with the CMLTO and have successfully completed an accredited MLT program. Recent experience in Microbiology, including proficiency in Gram staining and pathogen identification, is required.
