Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification as a Dental Assistant recognized by a Canadian provincial regulatory body.
  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to legally work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a dental office or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with dental practice management software.
  • Additional certifications such as Radiography certification or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) designation.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French.
  • Continuing education in dental assisting or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all dental instruments and materials are sterilized and organized before procedures.
  • Assist dentists during various dental procedures by handing instruments, operating suction devices, and providing patient comfort.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as required, following safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment notes and medical histories.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques and post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage inventory of dental supplies and notify management when reordering is necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and workplace safety standards.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with administrative duties as needed.
