About the role

Provide supported employment services to clients recovering from severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders seeking competitive employment.

Establish rapport with clients and their family.

Encourage and support attainment of educational and/or employment goals.

Support clients to obtain information on volunteer and/or employment opportunities and job training/retraining initiatives and programs.

Provide life skills and pre-employment skills training as needed for volunteer/employment readiness.

Interview clients to identify interests, skills, values, job readiness, and suitability for employment and/or volunteer opportunities.

Assist with resume writing and job search and retention skills.

Facilitate resume and/or interview preparation workshops.

Identify prospective employers in the community appropriate to clients’ work profiles.

Develop and maintain relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational programs, and wage subsidy programs to foster employment opportunities for the client group.

Work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary MHSU team using an Individual Placement and Support model

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Job Developer to join our Mental Health (MH) Employment Support team at the Penticton Health Centre in beautiful Penticton, B.C. This is a relief full time position until October 18, 2027 or return of incumbent. This position works Monday to Friday day shifts from 08:30 to 16:30.

Functioning as part of an integrated multidisciplinary MHSU Team and using an Individual Placement and Support Model, this position provides supported employment services to client’s recovering from severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders who are seeking competitive employment in accordance with the established vocational rehabilitation plan by performing duties such as: establishing rapport with clients and their family; encouraging and supporting the attainment of educational and/or employment goals; providing support to assist clients to obtain information on volunteer and/or employment opportunities and/or job training/retraining initiatives and programs; providing life skills and pre-employment skills training as needed to clients as part of their volunteer and/or employment readiness; interviewing clients to identify interests, skills, values, job readiness and suitability for employment and/or volunteer opportunities provides assistance with resume writing, job search and retention skills; facilitating resume and/or interview preparation workshops; identifying prospective employers within the community appropriate to client’s work profiles; and developing and maintaining relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational programs, wage subsidy programs, etc. to foster employment opportunities for client group.   • Completion of a recognized Community Social Service Diploma or a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Two years' recent related experience with job coaching, marketing and development with individuals with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Appropriate valid B.C. driver's license. As part of your application, please ensure to:

  • Confirm you hold a current and valid Driver’s License (Class V).

Requirements

Completion of a recognized Community Social Service Diploma or a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation. Appropriate valid B.C. driver’s license (Class V)
