Direct implementation of Covenant House philosophy, mission statement, and policies as they pertain to residential care.
Provide specialized day-to-day care and counselling to young women residing in Supported Housing.
Ongoing assessment of youths' needs.
Establish and maintain safety plans as needed.
Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention techniques in situations of physical confrontation, medical and psychiatric emergencies, and for youth who have recently experienced trauma.
Act as caregiver by assisting youth with nightly routines and sleep hygiene practices.
Act as an advocate for youth within the agency and with external agencies.
Complete building resident safety checks and monitor the surrounding community via external cameras.
Assist in training of new staff.
Maintain the Sanctuary and safety of the AHT Transitional Housing Programs for youth and staff.
Complete relevant documentation including Health & Safety Requirements, Participants Daily Notes (PDN’s), Communications Log, Petty Cash logbook, incident reports, and wellness checks.
Stay up to date on relevant communications including staff/management/supervisory emails, client case notes, PDN’s, training communications, and policy/procedure updates.
Promote community inclusion, independence, and self-determinism; support participants to identify, work towards, and achieve goals/personal outcomes

Overview In this position the candidate will be part of the Anti-Human Trafficking team, and will be responsible for direct implementation of the Covenant House’s philosophy, mission statement and policies as they pertain to residential care.
Assisting with specialized day to day care and counselling to the young women residing in Supported Housing.
The Youth Worker will be expected to work in an off-site program of Covenant House Toronto.
We are currently hiring one Part-Time Youth Worker.
We are looking for shift availability for Friday overnights 10:30pm - 8:30am, and Sunday evening shifts 3:00pm-11:00pm, as well as other day/evening shifts casually as needed..
This is a replacement position.

Perform all relevant documentation and ensure duties are completed e.g. Health & Safety Requirements, Participants Daily Notes (PDN’s), Communications Log, Petty Cash logbook, incident reports, wellness checks. Stay up to date on all relevant communications, including staff/management/supervisory emails, client case notes, participant daily notes (PDN’s), training communications, policy, and procedures updates, etc. Promoting community inclusion, independence and self-determinism for the individuals supported. Support participants to identify, work towards and achieve their goals/personal outcomes.
College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent. Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting. Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to the youth in our care. First Aid, CPR and basic computer skills an asset. Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of community resources. Don’t meet every requirement?
