Position

Reporting to the Manager of Live-in Treatment, the Overnight Awake Child and Youth Worker in the Live-in Treatment Program is responsible for working closely with children, youth, their families/caregivers and treatment team to foster a responsive, empathetic and nurturing therapeutic environment that addresses the social and emotional needs in a home milieu setting. This role provides direct care to children during the overnight hours, which involves utilizing strategies and approaches that contribute to the on-going implementation, assessment and evaluation of the treatment plan within a multidisciplinary team. The Overnight Awake Child and Youth Worker Live-in Treatment works collaboratively with various staff and departments, and upholds the Agency’s Mission, Vision, and Values, while contributing to a positive workplace environment.

A look at your duties and responsibilities

• Client Service Responsibilities
• Assists in promoting and supporting the Mission, Vision, and Values statements, ensuring adherence to operational and service policies and procedures while maintaining ethical conduct.
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of ethical behaviour and professional conduct, including contributing to ensuring ethical standards are upheld and participation in quality improvement standards.
• Develops positive rapport with clients in the program to create psychological safety and trust through relationship-building activities and observation of the client’s physical and emotional well-being.
• Ensures client safety by following Crisis Intervention guidelines for crisis prevention and de-escalation, following agency policies and procedures.
• Participates in the assessment of new clients, review of admission documents, preliminary briefings and support in assisting in the preparations from admission within a multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborates with colleagues to provide daily activities, routines, and behavioural support that is both developmentally and clinically appropriate for children in the program based on client needs.
• Maintains the cleanliness, organization, and upkeep of the living space, specifically client rooms, bathrooms, grounds and common spaces.
• Intervenes physically in crisis situations to reduce harm to the client, self or others in accordance with the principles and methods of the agency approved crisis intervention model
• Attends and participates in team meetings and discussions on client cases, treatment plans and process with a multidisciplinary team.
• Provides client transportation to healthcare appointments and home visits as required.
• Prepares written documentation as required by internal policies and procedures and external partner requirements such as completing checklists for specific areas including but not limited to; meal planning and preparation, food ordering, laundry and cleaning.
• Actively reports serious occurrences, including daily reporting and medication administration.
• Works closely with the Manager of Live-in Treatment and Program Coordinator to co-develop, implement and track treatment interventions, including reporting intervention outcomes.

• Administrative Responsibilities
• Actively participates in licensing and accreditation processes, including annual Ministry licensing review and renewal.
• Maintains a system of documentation and reporting that is consistent with quality assurance standards and procedures, licensing, accreditation and best practices.
• Ensures client files are maintained in accordance with quality assurance standards and procedures, licensing, accreditation and best practices
• Supports the quality assurance program, evaluation systems and research activities as needed.
• Works with Human Resources to ensure memberships, licenses, background checks and certifications are up to date via submission of required documents on ADP.
• Participates in regular supervision with the Manager to engage in ongoing professional development.

• Organizational Responsibilities
• Builds and maintains interactions with colleagues focused on individual, team and organization success.
• Performs work in a safe manner and adheres to the established health and safety measures of the organization.
