What You Bring Education: Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy and Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) Certified.
Skills & Abilities: Effective communication with patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and healthcare providers.
Proficiency in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
Ability to gather relevant data and conduct multi-dimensional assessments.
Competence in conducting patient/resident assessments.
Understanding of other healthcare disciplines and their roles.
Skill in eliciting information to understand patient/resident situations thoroughly.
Independence in prioritizing workload and tasks.
Participation in research activities.
Supervision and teaching of students.

Your Day to Day: Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates Respiratory Therapy care for patients, documenting treatment plans and outcomes. Manages oxygen therapy initiation, monitoring, and discontinuation. Conducts pulmonary function testing and maintains equipment calibration. Assists Physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and sample procurement. Performs various procedures including arterial line insertions and blood gas punctures. Conducts weaning protocols for patients on respiratory modalities. Accompanies patients during inter/intra hospital transport requiring respiratory support. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to procedure development. Completes health record reports and workload statistics. Provides clinical supervision and evaluation for students.
