Working as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced self-directed surgical care nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit specific basis (or equivalent combination of education and training).
Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit specific basis.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Level C.
Ability to apply nursing process per professional standards.
Ability to demonstrate organizational, problem solving, teaching, judgement, observation, and patient assessment skills.
Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful and emergency situations.
Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
Criminal Record Check (CRC) required
