Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre (MVESC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician, Rehabilitation to join our growing specialty animal hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This is an opportunity for a Veterinary Technician passionate about rehabilitation medicine, mobility support, and improving quality of life for patients.
We welcome certified rehabilitation professionals as well as candidates currently completing a rehabilitation certification program (CCRT, CCRA, CCRP, or CCAT) who are excited to grow within a collaborative specialty medicine environment.

Obtain and review detailed patient histories through medical records and client interviews Develop strong relationships with clients while providing education and support throughout treatment plans Demonstrate therapeutic exercises and educate owners on home care programs including PROM, massage, and stretching techniques Assign and monitor customized home exercise programs using rehabilitation software Maintain accurate and detailed medical records Communicate effectively with veterinarians, team members, referring clinics, and clients Create treatment estimates and manage billing and invoicing accurately Assist with filling medications and herbal prescriptions prior to discharge Perform client follow-up communications for ongoing and discharged patients Clean, stock, and maintain rehabilitation treatment areas and equipment Maintain underwater treadmill systems and rehabilitation facilities Promote a positive, collaborative hospital culture Support rehabilitation appointments and treatments as directed Perform technical veterinary skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, digital radiography, and monitoring sedated patients when needed Additional duties as assigned
Veterinary Rehabilitation certification (CCRT, CCRA, CCRP, CCAT) or currently enrolled in a rehabilitation certification program Minimum one year of experience working in veterinary rehabilitation preferred Experience with underwater treadmill therapy Experience performing massage and stretching techniques Experience utilizing Class 3B or Class 4 laser therapy Experience with NMES and TENS therapies Experience developing and implementing therapeutic exercise programs Strong knowledge of anatomy, musculature, and orthopedic or neurologic conditions Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Strong client communication and relationship-building abilities Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment Comfortable working on the floor with patients for more than 50% of the workday Ability to support and assist patients, including large and giant breed dogs Experience with positive reinforcement training techniques or interest in pursuing additional education in this area Fluent English speaking and reading skills required About MVESC Located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, MVESC's 24,000-square-foot hospital is setting a new standard for emergency and specialty veterinary medicine throughout Atlantic Canada.
