Maritime Veterinary Emergency + Specialty Centre (MVESC) is hiring a Veterinary Technician, Emergency - RVT to join our Emergency & Specialty animal hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This is an opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Technician to use advanced ER, Critical Care, and anesthesia skills while supporting patients during their most critical moments.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you’ll play a critical role in delivering advanced patient care while supporting urgent and critical cases. Apply your expertise in emergency medicine, Critical Care, and anesthesia to stabilize and treat patients in urgent need Utilize advanced Veterinary Technician skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, radiography, patient preparation and recovery, and anesthesia monitoring Provide attentive nursing care for critical, non-ambulatory, and trauma patients, including monitoring and physiotherapy when appropriate Assist with ER triage, patient assessments, emergency procedures, and patient advocacy Obtain and review detailed patient histories while communicating effectively with clients during high-stress situations Maintain accurate medical records and collaborate closely with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and the broader care team Provide client updates, review treatment plans, and explain medical procedures with clarity and compassion Prepare treatment estimates, review them with pet owners, and support billing and invoicing processes Contribute to team initiatives and departmental projects that improve emergency care and patient outcomes Foster positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community through teamwork and professionalism
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required Licensed with or eligible for licensure through the Eastern Veterinary Technicians Association (EVTA) and Nova Scotia Veterinary Medical Association (NSVMA) 2+ years of veterinary experience preferred, ideally in ER and/or Critical Care Experience with inpatient care, laboratory procedures, radiology, and critical thinking in urgent situations Strong technical skills with a passion for emergency and specialty medicine Compassionate team player who thrives in a collaborative animal hospital environment Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust with clients and team members Detail-oriented, dependable, and motivated to continue learning and growing Fluent English speaking and reading skills required About MVESC Located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, MVESC's 24,000-square-foot hospital is setting a new standard for emergency and specialty veterinary medicine throughout Atlantic Canada.
