About the role

Provide harm reduction supplies, health information, and Point of Care Testing to vulnerable populations across Central Vancouver Island. Facilitate connections to social supports, health services, and inclusive health education regarding HIV/HCV prevention.

We are seeking compassionate and skilled Mobile Health Outreach Workers to join our team in providing health information and harm reduction supplies to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases. The Mobile Health Outreach team is responsible for providing care, connection, and linkage for individuals, peers, and agency partners located within Central Vancouver Island.

Key Responsibilities

Providing harm reduction supplies, health information, and Point of Care Testing (POCT) for priority populations vulnerable to contracting or transmitting HIV/HCV

Health promotion and teaching endorsed harm reduction health practices

Promoting connection and link to social support, relevant health, income and social services.

Promoting safe spaces that are inclusive and provides culturally relevant health education around HIV/HCV prevention, harm reduction and treatment

Travelling to locations across Central Vancouver Island

  • Required Qualifications
  • Social service diploma, health and human service or equivalent education with related experience
  • Knowledge and experience with harm reduction philosophy, substance use and health promotion
  • First Aid & CPR certification
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Mandt
  • Able to communicate and implement approved harm reduction strategies in meaningful ways
  • Professional, collaborative, and team-oriented
  • Ability to undertake physical lifting up to 10kg for periods at a stretch
  • Must be able to pass a CRRP Criminal Record Check

Requirements

Requires a diploma in social services, health and human services, or equivalent education with related experience. Must hold First Aid, CPR, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications and pass a criminal record check.
