Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope operates in accordance with the competency guidelines and full scope of practice within the Standards of Practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency operating policies and standards and unit specific protocols.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, coworkers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice, including administering medications.
Ability to organize work and implement a plan of care.
Ability to operate related equipment and physically carry out duties.
Perinatal positions: completion of perinatal education program plus breastfeeding course OR 1 year recent acute perinatal experience within last 2 years; NRP certification within past 2 years.
MHSU positions: additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice where Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders are primary diagnosis.
Hip and Knee Clinic positions: two (2) years recent related surgical and preadmission clinic experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
