The Speech-Language Pathologist is concerned with communication, cognitive or swallowing disorders of adults; and often works as part of a team with other professionals to provide consultative and direct treatment services to the inpatient and outpatient populations. The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for counselling of clients and families, as well as for appropriate referrals to other professionals or services.
Required skills & experience(S)
Clinical expertise and experience in stroke rehabilitation and demonstrated knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation best practices including management of dysphagia.
Experience in both clinical and video fluoroscopic assessment of swallowing
Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interprofessional collaborative environment.
Working knowledge of and experience with theories and principles guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, problem-solving and innovation skills.
Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative.
Evidence of continued professional growth and/or professional development
Appreciation of resource utilization.
Computer skills, particularly Meditech, MS Office, and/or other software
Desired skills, experience(S) & education
Experience with inpatient service delivery is an asset.
Experience with critical care patients is an asset.

Requires a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and registration with CASLPO. Candidates must have BLS certification, a valid Ontario driver's license, and clinical expertise in stroke rehabilitation and dysphagia management.
