Job Description

Work collaboratively with our established multidisciplinary Seniors’ Clinic team to provide comprehensive geriatric care to patients aged 65 years and older, with a particular focus on frail older adults.

Responsibilities

Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. Services will be delivered through consultation in the following areas: Inpatient Geriatrics and Pre-operative Geriatric Optimization at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre (Truro, NS). Outpatient, office-based geriatric consultations for community-dwelling older adults at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre (Truro, NS), provided in person and/or virtually. This includes case reviews and collaborative support with Geriatric clinicians and at times, when appropriate, patient home visits Consultative services to long-term care facilities throughout Colchester County. The candidate will also participate in a shared on-call schedule, providing telephone consultation to primary care providers managing older adults in community, long-term care, and acute care settings within the Northern Zone. On-call coverage is provided weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Expected Hours 1 year, effective May 19, 2026 through May 17, 2027 Full-time hours (1.0 FTE). 37.5 hours per week, consisting of 0.8 FTE clinical service delivery and 0.2 FTE dedicated to clinical support activities. Located in Truro, it serves as the main acute care facility for the residents of Colchester and East Hants Counties, serving a population of approximately 75,000. Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage Completion of at least one year of Geriatric Medicine training during Internal Medicine residency or Care of the Elderly (COE) certification in addition to Family Medicine. CCFP designation preferred from the College of Family Physicians of Canada, or eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
