Martha’s Regional Hospital (SMRH), located in the heart of Antigonish, is seeking a full-time General Radiologist to join our thriving team of five radiologists in a diverse, hospital-based practice.
Our department provides a wide range of diagnostic imaging services, including radiography, CT, fluoroscopy, breast imaging, ultrasound, MRI, and nuclear medicine, along with basic image-guided procedures.
Typical work hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with 1 in 5 on-call responsibilities.

The hospital is approximately two hours from the region’s tertiary care pediatric center, the IWK Health Centre, which provides neonatal support.
Radiologists collaborate closely with colleagues across specialties including anesthesia, dermatology, emergency medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, general surgery, ENT, visiting dental, hospitalists, internal medicine (including ICU coverage), obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, palliative care, pediatrics, plastic surgery, primary maternal care, psychiatry (in/outpatient, including child/adolescent care), and visiting oncology and neurology.
Community-based care is further supported by a men’s and women’s health centers, chronic pain clinic, methadone clinic, and youth clinic at the local high school.
Physicians and staff take pride in delivering high-quality care and value collegiality.
SMRH hosts the most active cross-specialty, accredited Continuing Medical Education (CME) program in the province, alongside regular social events.

In addition to traditional gyms, CrossFit and private fitness studios are available. The local St. Francis Xavier University has superb recreational facilities, with a gym, rinks, a track, courts, and a 25 metre pool, all within the town. St. FX also hosts an impressive lineup of guest speakers, films, arts, music, and theatre events throughout the year, all open to the community. Antigonish boasts a vibrant arts and culture community where theatre, documentary films, concerts, readings, lecture, visual arts, and arts fairs, abounds. There is ample opportunity to participate, with community choirs and community theatre productions. This strong creative community has partnered with folks in health care and education to create the first community-based arts-health initiative in Canada.
