Job Description

Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) is seeking a full-time Intensivist with base specialty training in either Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Anesthesiology to join our group. Responsibilities

Our 15 bed level-2 intensive care unit is staffed by two daytime intensivists with shared night call. Handle all critically ill patients in the catchment area and is well supported with equipment for point of care ultrasound, percutaneous tracheostomy, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), transesophageal echocardiography, and bronchoscopy. Responsibilities are divided between both daytime staff and include coverage of ICU as well as the Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU), consultations, and code blue coverage in daytime hours. Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities. Expected Hours Permanent Full-Time Approximately 18 weeks of ICU annually as well as coverage of base specialty when not in ICU. Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS). Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Basic Cardiac Life Support(BCLS) Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada with Critical Care designation, or eligible for examination Medical Doctorate (MD) or equivalent and have completed Critical Care subspecialty qualifications.
