About the role

The physician will provide comprehensive family practice care to the Caledonia community, collaborating with nurse practitioners and a family practice nurse. Responsibilities include examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and acting as a patient advocate.

Company Description North Queen’s Community Health Centre in Caledonia is seeking a physician to join their family practice. The new physician will provide family practice care to the community of Caledonia while working in collaboration with two nurse practitioners (1 full and 1 half time), and a family practice nurse. In addition, weekly lab services, diabetes education, continuing care and foot clinic are available. The North Queen’s Community Health Centre is run by a community board, which is pivotal in the community providing fantastic community support for providers and the Health Centre.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners Act as a patient’s advocate Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements Expected Hours part-time or full-time

Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
