Job Description

Aberdeen Hospital is seeking a locum internist to support a team that provides 24/7 in-patient consultation and on call shifts.

Responsibilities

Provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level health care. Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority. Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities. provide hospital and call support (for ICU and Internal Medicine) as required provide Most Responsible Physician (MRP) coverage for ICU and monitored beds look after Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds in a closed unit participate in outpatient care appropriate to specialty provide advice and counsel to nearby rural hospitals contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities as assigned Expected Hours 1.0 (FTE) Call is required, shared amongst the group Compensation is provided by the service, and locum physicians are eligible to access the travel elements of the program, including reimbursement for kilometrage, per diems, accommodations (up to $300 per night), and airfare (up to $1,500), along with travel time up to 10 hours per week. Licensing fees for CPSNS are covered, and locum physicians may claim facility on call fees under specific conditions.

Qualifications

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) All applicants must have a current PALS Certification All applicants must have a current ATLS Certification All applicants must have a current ACLS Certification

Requirements
