Overview The Personal/Home Support Worker provides personal support services in the hospice with the framework of Carefor policies, procedures, standards and quality & risk management. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to meet the needs of clients to attain an optimal level of comfort and well being.
Assist in the activities of daily living including eating, dressing, transferring, grooming, and bathing Provide laundering of clothes and linens Provide light cleaning Provide respite care Provide light meal preparation Provide cognitive, social, and compassionate support Document reports for clients on their plan of care and any changes in the behaviour of daily routines Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Supervisor in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and Carefor policies and procedures.
Ontario Certified Personal Support Worker Certificate and/or National Association of Career Colleges (NAC) Certificate, or, Foreign Trained BScN, BScN Nursing Student, or second year RPN student. Clear vulnerable Sector check (obtained within previous six months) Negative tuberculosis test Household management experience Experience working with elderly/vulnerable sector Good communication in English, both written and verbal Bilingualism is an asset (English and French) Ability to work independently Ability to adjust to working with people of different backgrounds and abilities. Previous housekeeping experience is an asset Experience with Palliative Care is considered an asset First Aid CPR is considered an asset
